Samantha Reid is a well-established entrepreneur, with more than a decade of experience in business. She is the CEO and founder of SAWA Investment Inc., De People’s Pawnshop, and also serves as the president of the Berbice Chamber of Commerce. In January 2024, she was appointed as a member of the Guyana Real Estate Agents Authority.
In 2017, Samantha launched SAWA Investment Inc., which has completed major construction projects for government, commercial, and residential clients across Guyana. These projects include the construction of buildings, bridges, roads, and drains, among others. SAWA Investment Inc. also provides general procurement services to the Government Sector and other business entities.
Before SAWA Investment Inc., Samantha founded De People’s Pawnshop, which still operates in her hometown of New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Samantha holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science (Business Management) and an Associate Degree in Public Management from the University of Guyana. Currently, she is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Business and Entrepreneurship at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad.
In addition to her successful business ventures, Samantha is involved in philanthropic work, supporting orphanages and various Women’s Groups. She also founded the House of Magdalene, an organization that mentors abused women, young girls, and women in prison from her hometown. She is a respected community leader who often speaks at graduation ceremonies and supports her community where needed.
